INTRODUCTION:
- As the Art Director at American Bag Company, we can design-create
electronic artwork. HOWEVER, it is preferred we are provided final
electronic art allow us to preflight and go straight to making print
proofs.
- Over the years we have moved from the Macintosh based computer system
to PC based computer systems. Art is stored by customer name or job name
on server allowing for modifications if changes occur +/- 24 months after
a custom run. This includes custom bags, pouches, labels, booklet cards
and travel tumblers. Art services are charged at an hourly rate with a 10
minute minimum.
ARTWORK SPECIFICATIONS:
- If you request art services from us we high prefer PC Adobe Illustror
files Saved As .ai with any and all photos or images attached and in .eps
or .tif format typically created or edited in Adobe Photoshop. Images for
press print need to be 300 dpi or higher, no .gif or low resolution .jpg
files. Further, we do prefer you convert fonts to Outlines requiring no
fonts with the artwork you send. Customers may still send rough concept
art, or art in black and white laser print however, please note there will
be time added for artwork recreation.
- Some of our products, mainly labels have a selection of stock ink
colors however, we commonly suggest and refer to the Pantone Matching
System (PMS) color number or a sample you supply.
TEMPLATES:
- Templates for custom bags, custom zipper pouches, custom labels,
custom booklet cards and custom travel tumblers are available by request
and can be sent you or your artist via e-mail.
PROOFING:
- After faxing, or e-mailing you signed Order Confirmation we seldom
proceed until you sign off on art proofs. Proofing is often send via FedEx
for review and a release signature within 10 business days. Once it is
approved we will proceed having no responsibility typing errors, incorrect
information, etc. Proofs will not be generated until all order processes
are complete which includes receipt of custom print security deposits.
METHODS OF ARTWORK DELIVERY:
- Burn and send a CD or DVD. Send by courier for tracking, if necessary.
- Use our FAST File Uploader on files under 2MB, over 2MB will fail.
- FTP upload. Call (800) 590-BAGS (2247) to request a link to upload
your files. (5MB)

UPC / BARCODES:
- We can help create the barcode HOWEVER, you must apply and forward the
assigned digits to us.
SOFTWARE AVAILABILITY:
- We try to upgrade software annually to keep up with current revision
levels
DESIGN SOFTWARE:
- Adobe Illustrator v6 through v10 up to CS - the graphics program we
use most, meeting all of our requirements for drawing, typesetting,
distortion and step & repeating. If you have Illustrator version 6 through
10 or CS on either Mac or PC, we should be able to use your file(s).
- Adobe PhotoShop v5.0 through v8 up to CS - the photo or image editing
program we use most. Do not send scans as supplied artwork.
- WinZip up to v8 - the preferred method of compressing large art files
to transfer via e-mail.
- Adobe Acrobat v6.0 - is often used for viewing and sending supplied
print/art files. *Cannot always be accepted as supplied art.
CUSTOMER SUPPLIED ART GENERAL CONSIDERATIONS:
- For artwork to be considered "supplied", it must be supplied on a
compatible electronic file, 100% - 1:1 size as quoted. Artwork should
appear as it is to print. Any last minute copy changes, size changes,
corrections, etc. will be charged as an hourly art charge.
Also, make sure you give us a copy, not your only artwork files. Retain an
original of your artwork.
